Of course, this is one of the most realistic works that have gone beyond the hands of the master. The work attracts by the fact that the master in this case focused the viewer's attention precisely on the internal component of the whole image.

The first thing that catches your eye is the fleshy lips and the glossy cheeks of the person portrayed, which directly indicates that the viewer is a typical landowner. Moreover, his smile speaks of a certain amount of cruelty and arrogance. Despite this, in his eyes you can see the presence of a mind that is not afraid of any ridicule or even some contempt. A typical image of a nobleman of that time appears before the viewer.

A special place is occupied by beautiful pictorial technique, which the artist masterfully mastered. Face volume, texture, image and other details are very masterfully executed with a free brush of the master. The most confident strokes, qualitatively transmit the flicker of gold and red tones. With all this, the colors are becoming much thinner and more refined.

It is especially worth noting how the artist masterfully performed a web of silk lace. Obviously, the artist in this portrait tried to maximally compare the swamp green color with red. It is these two colors that are perfectly softened by each other by the artist, and the white lace collar only complements their flicker.

Rokotov uses a large number of various shades in this work, due to which the colors get a radiant depth. One can see how the barely noticeable, even artistic brushstroke of the master takes a very important realistic meaning, thereby expressing a certain thrill of life.

Perfectly conveyed emotional experience. It is these portraits that the master, as it were, says that the first period of his searches was successfully completed and the heights of his goals and objectives in portraiture were reached.
