Auguste Renoir was among the most important artists of French impressionism. He wrote a lot of social life in Paris: its crowded cafes, magnificent theaters and such a diverse crowd of people.

No less attracted to the heart of the painter is nature far from urban buildings. Spring and summer, rapid flowering and flowering, vast expanses of grass and branched trees ... The splendor of nature often coexists in the paintings of Renoir with the beauty of women. So in the picture "In the Meadow", two girls' figures are in the arms of grass, flowers and endless fields.

“Girls in the Meadow” was written between 1890 and 1895. Impressionism is rampant on canvas in its brightest flowering. Sweeping strokes of paint paint a whirlwind of captured reality.

Renoir’s technique is especially special because oil-heavy oil paints on the canvas as easily as if the artist were painting in a gentle, airy watercolor. Light confident strokes of paints pass from one to another, creating the effect of flowing objects of composition, they seem to melt in the surrounding world of objects.

Two young girls sit with their backs to the viewer. But from a similar angle, the master was able to express all the charm of female beauty: hornet waist, tied with belts, feminine long dresses, thick hair ... Nearby on the grass is a discarded lady's hat.

In a cozy nest of nature, girls talk peacefully, collecting sunny daisies. In the distance you can still see the figures of people, but they are smooth, blurry, not at all clear. And then - colorful pieces of groves and meadows.

In the works of the French impressionist, one does not need to look for the in-depth experiences of the depicted heroes. His work is a natural embodiment of the harmony of life and the magnificence of plastic forms.

Today, girls picking flowers through the eyes of the brilliant Renoir can be seen in New York, where the Metropolitan Museum of Art is now located.
